Hi people i am new to this forum and to Mercedes Benz and i have never owned 1 up to now that is.
I have always owned BMWS,but i have just sold my M3 coupe and i fancy a change plus i would like a convertible but still hanging on to my 635csi Highline

The model that i would like to buy is the 129 what a classic shape i have fell head over heels in love with it and want 1 asap.
I have looked at a few on ebay,pistonheads etc but i dont know enough about them to make a choice.
I was looking at 500sl,s but i spotted a 300sl 12v had a chat with the guy and he says that his model is the best bet as there is nothing to go wrong with it.
Its got full history the heads been done new hood etc,plus factory hardtop.
Its got no aircon/leather.
He wants £6000 is that a good price for a basic spec sl on a J.
Which is the best model to go for between 12v V 32v etc 300.500.
Any info or advice most welcome.
