Purchased some new copper sealing rings for my diesel injectors today from Mercedes due to the ones i got with the recon injectors have blown allready after 4 weeks :( . Ive examined the new copper rings and it looks like they have modified them as these new ones are slightly curved one side and have what i can only describe as 3 sticky out prongs in the centre which i expect centers the injector yes? The ones i got with the recon injectors where just flat with a simple hole in the middle i guess these were just generic replacements or something. So my question is which is the correct way round that these washers go in curved at the top and flat at the bottom or the other way round . I asked a technician at the merc dealership where i purchased the washers and he said it didnt matter which i dont believe is quite right ?:confused:

That's correct, dont matter which way round they go, just make sure you tighten them correctly, 7nm +90+90.

An angle torquing spec like that suggests a new bolt is needed everytime - is this the case?

AND check the depth of the hole before fitting the bolt as any debris that may have gone done the hole will get compressed and the bolt wont reach the desired fit.
Also before fitting the injector and copper seal make sure the mating surfaces are as clean as the can be otherwise you will be doing the fix again soon.
there is a mercedes grease that should be applied to the injector so its easier in the future to remove!!
