I have a '97 c class 250 td [wdb] I've just noticed that when revving the engine air [and oil] is blowing past the inlet manifold /cylinder head joint. I've had the manifold off several times and often wondered whether there should be a gasket fitted or not. Can anyone advise. I don't want to start using messy sealants but obviously I'll have to if no gasket is available.
Also, when revving the engine I can see loads of bubbles in the clear fuel pipes. could this possibly cause the pinking noises I'm getting.
I've been told that this may be due to worn injectors causing weak mixture but I thought perhaps air in the fuel may have the same effect.
The local branch of Lucas remove and clean the injectors [not cheap but cheaper than £250 per pot for new ones] Can anyone tell me anything about this, i.e. does cleaning them fix the problem?
thanks in advance
Pete
