Hi, I'm a new poster so apologies if this has been discussed before.

I have recently bought a 1994 E320. Unfortunately I flattened the battery and had to jump start it. Since then the alarm hasn't worked. My mechanic says that the alarm has been 'spiked' and needs 'resequencing' but couldn't offer any further help.

Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Willber

It's my experience with spiked electronics of all kinds that the best cure is to 'reboot'. I'd disconnect the battery for a few minutes (30?). I've had the radio go mental a couple of times and pulling the fuse seems to do the trick to force a full reset.
If you mean by the alarm that the infra red remote central locking doesn't work, there is a recode method for the remotes. Can't remember the exact process -before I dig around, is this the issue ?

Hi jberks, sorry no reply been off sick.
Yes, it is the remote not working the alarm or central locking that's the problem (central locking works fine manually).

Someone in the trade in the US sent this suggestion:

"Does the car has a factory alarm(rare in the UK in my experince),
the way to tell is on the main(master) key there is a small red knob or
button the black part of the key fob, this button dosen't move or do
anything, just indicates a factory alrm.
To reset the system, close all the doors, trunk and hood, lock the car with
the blade key from the drivers door and keep holding the key in the lock
position for about 5 seconds after the car locks.
Then turn the key to the un-lock position and hold, the car should unlock
and all the windows and sunroof (if electric) should open.
Then repeat the lock operation, holding until all the windows/roof are
closed again. This should reset the alarm and convienience features.
If the alarm continues to sound, the alarm control unit should be under the
passenger footwell kick pannel. The control unit is a small black box about
8x4x1 with to 15-20pin elect connectors.
You can just disconnect this without any adverse affects of the vehicle, but
obviously you loose all alarm and starter lock out features."

I'm a bit worried about trying this in case the alarm goes off and I can't stop it. Advice/suggestiond appreciated.

Cheers,
Willber G
