Insrument cluster lighting problems

Hello everyone!
I have recently acquired a 1986 W124 230E with 78,000 miles on the clock. Unfortunately, I have a slight problem... Nothing is lighting up inside the cabin at night! I replaced the fuse and everything seemed to be running fine, but the fuse has blown once again!

Does anyone have a suggestion? I have a Euro Car Parts at the end of the street, so feel free to offer any suggestions!

Do you mean the red fuse on back of cluster.
could be just a faulty lamp, I would take out the instrument cluster and change them all first.

The problem remains... Argh!

Thanks for your advice! I have removed the instrument cluster, replaced the bulb and checked the dimming rheostat, which was fine. Alas, the instrument lighting does not work at all, which makes night driving very unpleasant...

Can anyone offer any advice?!

The instrument panel doesn't light up nor do the dials on the dashboard, the fuse is intact and all exterior lights work.

PLEASE HELP!
