Hi everyone, my instrument panel went blank so no speedo revs or sound etc. Called AA . He diagnosed a module fault. Do you know if there has been a recall on this ? Will I have to replace the whole unit? I live in Liverpool. Any repairers ? Thanks for reading.

I had something similar on a BMW 318 years ago...it was a Wheel Spin Relay...No idea if the Merc has one...but didn't cost much to fix

I had the same thing happen on my 2008 S204, took it to my local indie who plugged it into his Star diagnostic and found that for some unknown reason the dashboard had lost its programming. This guy also looked after the fleet of C and E class C220's of Arrow Taxis in Ashford and said it was not the first time he'd seen that! Anyway, he re-programmed the dashboard quite quickly and for not a lot of CIH, and touch wood rapidly all has been fine since.

Search for a local MB indie with Star!!

For recalls check the MB recall site an pump in your vin.

It could be a module, depends on what scanner Mr AA was using.

Best to get/find a MB independent in your area.

Welcome to the forum. Stick around and let us know the solution.

Thanks Chrishazle, that would be refreshing if my instrument panel could be reprogrammed without replacing it.

Bernadette, please remember I said "MB Star", your diagnostic photo shows something that is definitely not Star! Check that your indie has the proper star/Xentry tool not some after market diagnostic gear. There are very few after market kits that are as capable as Star - but are an awful lot cheaper and thus more common!

In what way??? I've seen so many posts on here and t'other side aobout alternatives, one seems to get a thumbs up (can't remember which one, it's an age thing!) but so many times I've seen comments about star not only telling you the fault but also exactly what/where it is and how to fix it!

Hi everyone, good news, my local MB Indie ( with Xentry diagnostics ) managed to fix the instrument cluster on my 2012 C class. He stripped the dash etc and warmed back of curcuitry . The cluster came back on. Good so far.
Thanks for your support.
