Instrument Panel Dead.

Hi, Would anybody give me some idea of how to rectify a dead cluster, there are no light at all, when starting car and whilst driving. I have checked fuses 52 and 64 and they are both working. I am able to drive the car still, my side mirrors have stopped going in and out when locking or unlocking car. My indicators still work and gears and the light are all working. Is there a relay or a control unit that could be at fault. There has been alot of rain over the past few days up here, but no leaves blocking the bonnet sides to cause the rain water to go through to the fuse box. I have heard that taking the negative wire off the main battery in the boot could reset this, but I am reluctant to do this incase something else goes wrong

I had a completely dead instrument cluster in one of my S211's when I bought it. With the cluster out and dismantled, we used a heat gun with a small rework nozzle to carefully heat all the silicone chips on the PCB and it came back to life. Had I not seen it before and after I would not have believed it.

Some time ago I had a dead instrument panel on my S204, no speedo or anything else! Diagnostic at local indi showed that somehow the panel had lost its programming, he was able to sort and re-programme that quickly and cheaply, and touch wood problem has not resufaced since!
