I'm new to the forum and appreciate any help. I have a 2001 slk 320. One of the lamps on the instrument cluster (1/2 left fuel and 1/2 center cluster) is out. How do I change the bulb or is it a merc secret thing that only a dealer should mess with? Thanks, Barry

If its anything like my C200, then ....
1) remove the plastic panel below the dash (you may also need to remove the bonnet release handle)
2) Using a torch, look under the dash and then push it out: it's usually a push fit without any latches. I had to use the rubber handle of a screw driver to provide some initial leverage to overcome the rubber 'interference fit' mounts.
3) Then, if you're luck like me, you gan gently pull the cluster out from the front, rotating the steering wheel as required, with just enough room to get at the bulbs.
4) If you dont have enough room, then FIRST disconnect battery negative (otherwise your SRS light may stay on), then disconnect the wiring loom connectors from the rear of the cluster.
5) All bulbs are available in Halfords, the smaller 1.2W & 2W bulbs are a complete unit, while the larger dash light bulb may be seperated from its holder. Halfords didnt do a 2W so I used a 1.2W instead (no visible difference) and I used 5W for the larger bulb.
6) test ALL bulbs before putting the cluster back (so that any warning bulbs aren't missed out), using some convenient 12V source (your battery!) and a wire.
7) Refit in reverse order, connecting the battery last.
