They maybe Thatcham standard but they are not Thatcham approved, the last alarms which were Thatcham approved were the cars with the flip out key, single button remote, and were fitted in the UK by the importer and were classed as standard equipment, or there was an option to have it fitted by the dealer but then this was a cost option when the vehicle was new, it was also available as an accessory, but to get a Thatcham approval it would have to be fitted by a qualified VAT registered installer.
The alarm on your car Mark is better than Thatcham approved and insurance companies recognise this, nothing would be gainned by telling them otherwise.

My understanding of the Thatcham approval is they have to be installed in the UK to gain this, hence why the earlier Scorpion systems were fitted in the UK rather than actually in the factory when the cars were built, as i said the system in the later cars is a higher spec than a Thatcham approved alarm.

I thought they were dealer fitted at PDI.

If it's factory fitted then you put down factory fitted - the insurance group already takes this into account.

The Thatcham categories are on the insurance proposal for alarms fitted after the car was built and it's quite stringent to meet. The insurance company could ask for the certificate and I think the alarm is supposed to be checked for correct function every now and again.
