I have the dreaded p2279 code. The seal on the tube pipe in the inlet side of the intercooler was leaking (oil residue) and replaced, but still getting the fault after a few miles. Independent merc specialist reckoned next step is to change inlet manifold (these appear to be an expensive nightmare to sort).. but having has a good look underneath with the belly plate off, there is alot of oil residue around the junction at the bottom of the throttle valve actuator. I can't see any residue around the intake manifold or any higher than that the throttle actuator lower junction, so I am thinking that may be the culprit.
Does anyone know if this is fairly common (not found any threads), can I try and nip up the 4 bolts or do I need to take appart and change the seal. ?
Also any smart ideas for doing this without taking the egr off - I can touch the bolt heads from underneath, I'm thinking about modifying an E10 spanner to get around the corner. And are those bolts stretch bolts like the manifold to head bolts or just normal?
