new member and owner of E320CDI avantgarde Estate. It's a 2001 W210 (I believe) and am experiencing some issues on her.

The issue for this posting is that every now and then the interior light turns itself on without the buttons being pushed (the light being the one near the interior mirror). It works properly with the door and "self operates" anytime and does not appear to be bump related.

Any ideas, someone suggested the door switch was faulty, if this is the case, as it is an intermittent fault how would I test this ?

Love the car but she is starting to fall apart despite being loved a FMBSH and a relatively young 85,000 on the clock.

I had a door switch problem that would come and go on a 210. I am told taht you can test it by rocking the doors (shut/windows down/ grab hold and rock the car) but it didn't make sense to me and the dealer sorted it.

Mine would come on going round roundabouts and up inclines and pop the door locks at the same time. It did it when I collected it, leaving the dealer. They whipped it into the workshops and sorted it and then it came back a year later. That time, they changed the f/n/s door switch and it was fine ever more.
If it's recurrent enough, try disconnecting a switch at a time or for the cost, just replace one.

Cheers, for this will give it a go this weekend and post the outcome. As an aside, if it is the door switch are they expensive ? would it be recommended to have an MB part or from Europarts ?

Thx

As jberks says, leave the ignition on, all windows down & wait till the light goes out. Pull on each door in turn to see if a door needs adjusting in a bit.

I'd be very surprised if the proper MB parts are expensive. Small plastic MB bits are normally very reasonable, (unless it ihas a chip in it!)
I'd start with your local dealer's parts desk.
