T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Previously posted a problem with my light switch (plunger type) and have now identified which one it is. On my previous posting Black 55 kindly outlined how to, which involved removal of the inside trim. But I didn't really follow it.

Black55, or others, could you possibly provide a numpty's step by step guide on how to remove the trim so that I can change the light switch...it is now driving me crazy (the light just keeps coming on and off all by itself and has got progresively worse over the past week - to temporarily keep myself sane I have removed the bulbs, but clearly this is not the answer).

Thx + rgds

The trim must be easy to remove, either just pull away the draught excluder and/ or unclip the panel

Just seen this post.

1.Remove the rubber seal around the door apature
2. The seal removal reveals retaining clips that hold the b pillar trim in place.
3. Unclip trim from b pillar.
4. Remove switch

It really is simple to do. If you still have trouble you are welcome to phone me.

Thx and subsequent question

Will have a look tomorrow afternoon and thx for the offer of a call - really appreciated. Sorry if my question sound as if I was a total thicky...however, I don't know too much and fear my enthusiasm to get the car perfect can sometimes exceed my ability - this does sound quite simple, I was just concerned about ripping bits of trim off and, say doing it in the wrong order, and breeaking something.

On a related topic, I today replaced the n/s interior bulb, by the rear view mirror. It didn't look blown (i.e. the filament was intact) but the new bulb worked. What I did notice though was when the bulb faded on there was a faint buzzing coming from the area of the light switched/bulb. The same noise, albeit slight, could be heard when the light faded off.

Any ideas what the noise could be ?

Thx

Adam

Quick update, removed black sill trim, removed door rubber, removed metal clips, pulled away trim and replaced switch. Doddle, thanks to BlackC55 and Television for giving me the confidence to give it a go.

I did notice that when removing the metal clip under the door rubber it scratched the paint down to metal, so I touched it up and then placed a slivver of selotape either side where the clip would go back on so that it did not scratch again. Probably overkill, but I intend on being buried in my car which courtesy of MB warranty is rust free (so far as i can see).

Thx again and BlackC55 hope your open day goes well, unfortunately I am unable to make it.
