just got back after having a problem with the cars ignition.
Parked up , everything fine. Went back to car, remote opened doors, key in ignition, all the lights light up ok, coil light goes out, try to start the car, and nothing!
tried this a few times, no error code on the dash or anything. Came home, got spare keys, and started first time. Drove home. Tried key that didnt work, and it worked fine.
Thing is, cant trust it now. Dont know if the key that didnt work would have the second time around instead of the spare key.
Had a search on this forum, but found nothing really.
I see the keys can sometimes get out of synch, so how do you get them back in synch if this is the problem.

any other ideas

and many thanks, not having much luck with this car at all.

possible Malcolm, but ive found most times when the eis goes down the key wont turn at all. It seems like its turning all the way round but not engaging the starter, which could be a starter its self?

ok, its been fine for a while now, but stopped working again.
Any ideas?
Lights, electronics all working, all apart from it not attempting to start. No turn over nothing.
Can the key fob thing go out of sequence ( tried both keys, both have good batteries in )
Is there any usual problem with the immobiliser ? Has it got one ?
Any fuses to check for the starter motor?

anything might help.

All the electronics and dash light up fine. Started first time this morning when I picked it up from where it was left, and took it to M garage. Said it may be LS switch or something. Whats that, and how much is it likley to cost me.
On another note, the guy at the Merc garage did me a favour by taking me to locat train station in Worcester, dropped me off, and the drove my car into a taxi!
Mr Lucky thats me.

the key turns ok? it could even be a loose contact at the starter motor. i have seen this on a c220cdi and i know others have too. i guess you will have to wait and see now.

Yes you do need to check that there is no voltage present on the small terminal on the starter when the key is turned
