i dont know how to revive this archived thread, but here is the link.
basically, my car every now and again, will make the "fingers scraping down chalk board" noise.
it did happen during warranty but when i told mercedes (5 days inside of it expiring) they said, without hearing it they couldnt say what it is
.
long story short... a non mercedes mechanic has out in a new starter motor and i still got the noise, so it sounds like a ring gear problem :sad:
anyway, i was interested with the termonology used by member Piestore:
"Has it solved the problem?? If all is Ok and work was done by MB dealer ask them to ESKU as this is a known fault and you may get a refund." and would like to ask what a DAS 3 is and what does ESKU mean?
if anyone can give me any other help with this... like how do i get mercedes to cover the cost of fixing something on a newish, very low mileage (25K perhaps) car, i'd be grateful.
