Intermittent A/C fault - Anyone have any bright ideas?

Hi all,

I know I asked this question before sometime back (in a rambly question) but:

Does anyone have any ideas as to why my a/c sometimes goes on full fan, full heat, with all buttons, fan speed & temperature setting inoperative. Usually for the 1st drive of the day.

And other times the a/c functions perfectly normally, usually during the rest of the day after the car has been driven once.

Any thoughts greatfully received.

Hi Steve.

I am sure there is some sort of sun sensor. Ie, if the vehicle cabin gets too hot. Then the ac comes on to reduce in cabin temp. If I am right. Then you may not experience the problem, in the cold days.

Do you think it could be a faulty "sun sensor" as today it was peeing with rain and the fault actually occurred twice today, usually it only happens once a day.

Oh Andy, one other question, while I think of it...

In your experience, is the control module that fits in the dash generally covered by 3rd party warranties that can be bought when buying a used car (e.g. Signature or similar).
