I wonder if anyone could perhaps point me in the right direction?
My 1989 260E Auto, occassionally the engine "Cuts-out/Dies" when stopping at, shall we say, Road Junctions. etc.
This is rather a dangerous problem!
This has happened in the recent past, when trying to enter traffic on a busy road !
Then the engine "Dies" and I wet my pants
Very strange, the Engine virtually re-starts straight away, with a bit of "spluttering" but will die if the revs are not kept up.
Now, someone who is not a Merc Man, has told me that in the Petrol Tank, on the Fuel Pipe uptake there is a "fibre/type" filter ??
I dont know.
But, he assures me that what happens, is that this filter "collapses" under pressure, kills the engine, then re-inflates and enables the engine to start up quite easily again!
Anyone any experience of this dodgy problem??
