Intermitterend sat nav

My sat nav cuts out regularly.it says cannot read disc or insert disc.
The areal has just been replaced and when the sat nav works, I have at least 6 or 7 satellites. Then for no reason, it stops working although on the dash dial, it continues to show me directions and name of roads.
It is a cls 350 2005 Mercedes.
Any ideas?

Is the disc in the boot. Is it an original, is it scratched ,dirty, possibly the laser is on the way out in the unit itself.

Thanks for your reply. Disc is in the boot and is the latest version. Might try to clean laser or replace the unit.
