AMG C63 W205 Estate
I've been enjoying a 2018 C63 Estate for the last couple of months, it replaced a A35, which I never quite gelled with.

Why a 4L twin turbo V8?
I grew up with petrol... the government insists it has to go and I wanted to enjoy the last months and years of petrol excess.

I also have a Morgan Aero Plus 8, with a 4.8L V8, naturally aspirated.

Welcome from another TTV8 driver - M278 in my case - and V8 enthusiast. I live in Malvern, drive past the Morgan factory frequently, and see them on the road all the time. I've done the factory tour and seen one of those 4.8 V8s on a bench, and in a freshly built Aero. IIRC it's the BMW V8 used in the 6 series? Is it flat plane or cross plane? Final Q: which of the two V8s do you prefer?

Welcome defenatly a petrol head. Only ever drove one Morgan a new one in 1972, with I believe the Ford 1600cc engine.

A mate of mine bought a 1600cc one new back in the seventies and IIRC he waited about three years for it, boy, didn't they shake, rattle and squeak.

i also have a TTV8 (from the dark side, considering this is MB forum), I do love my E350, but my M5 I bought to enjoy the last years of ICE and motoring freedom our government will allow on the roads - and boy is it creating memories that i will remember forever...

It's all about smiles per gallon! I love the DCT box in my Golf R; M5's TTV8 with a DCT box must be a perfect combo? Almost enough to tempt me to the dark side. I bet the M5's fuel consumption is almost reasonable too. But I'm hooked on the sound of US V8s, and BMWs just don't have that characteristic burble. There's a great example on a recent Harry's Garage youtube vid on a Jensen FF restomod, powered by GM's LS V8. Sounds utterly fabulous!

I have a 2019 M5 so its a ZF not DCT, the previous gen M5 (F10) had a DCT but they went for ZF for the F90 - also its mated to the excellent MX-Drive giving it great traction, and the fuel consumption is better than previous M5's as you rightly say - what is sublime is the chassis, the MXDrive and the power all together - it wraps around you like a glove on twisty roads and is just a weapon when unleashed...planning on having it tweaked which should see 0-60 in under 2.8s too.

Enough of that though, this is a Mercedes forum...

Just watched this myself John as you say utterly fabulous :D As a young man I worked as a salesman in a top end sports car dealership and the Interceptor FF was always my favourite, it was just that huge Iron V8 that wooed me :D
