Morning all. I'm a new member. Tony is the name. Owner of a recently purchased 2015 C207 350D Coupe.

I have a question for all you highly informed people.

It's no doubt been covered before, but here goes.

I want/need to upgrade the old tech, single piston front brake calipers to a set of 4 pot calipers, similar to what was on my previously owned 2015 S212 350d or even the ones found on a 2015 X218 CLS that I owned a couple of years ago, maybe even the those from a W213.

Is there a possibility to fit any of the aforementioned directly or with the use of any adapters?

Having only purchased the car yesterday, I can say that the standard fit single piston calipers are woefully lacking in braking performance. The sooner I can change them, the happier I will be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You prob can, but be aware benz and most other makes will be going out of their way to make everything 1mm different.

As the 207 is based on the 204 you may get away with swapping to the C63 setup, I’m not sure what it would entail but theoretically could be possible

Welcome Tony C207, from Tony also with a C207. Lovely motor you've got, (not biased at all) :)

Welcome :)

I'd guess you're running cheap disks and pads as I always found my C207 350d to be excellent in the braking department.

How many miles has it done?

74500 on the clock @ the min.
Having previously had the benefit of the 4 pot calipers on my 350d estate and CLS Shooting Brake, along with genuine discs and pads, I can say for sure that the old tech calipers on my C207 have nowhere near the stopping power.

I have to apply far more pressure on the brake pedal when slowing from speed and this I find particularly annoying.

Originally I had planned on buying a C207 400, but every one I looked at had the same calipers and that wasn't acceptable in my eyes on a vehicle with approaching 340bhp.

I changed my brake fluid and the braking stayed the same . I was hoping it would improve. I agree with you on the braking ,bum nipping and steering wheel gripping comes into play at times. :)

There are tuning companies out there that do braking kits for Mercedes so that might be an option alternately you could talk to one or two of the MB Independents on here, there may be a simple fix of fitting bigger brakes from another model.

What is your current set-up front to back?

Wondering if changing the brake pads might help. I find they just don't seem to grab enough on the discs . My 2017 facelift is on original discs/ pads with 25k on the clock, maybe a bit shiny and cooked by now . Plenty of meat left on them though .

Try cross reference using brakes international website ,they show pictures and dimensions of calipers .

Standard fit single piston calipers all round, plus it's running on Michelin Pilot 4s tyres so it's got plenty of grip when braking.

Main problem I have, is that the amount of force you need to apply to the brake pedal, is way more than either my previously owned S212 350d or X218 CLS Shooting Brake required, admittedly they both were equiped with 4 piston Brembo variety calipers.

I've tried sourcing a set of the ones fitted on some W/S 212 models but no such luck as of yet. Ideally I would like the variety fitted to the X218 CLS 350d if they would fit with suitable adapters or maybe those from a W213, again with suitable adapters.

The brakes on the W/S212 sport are very good and certainly up to the job I can testify to that. What size are the front and rear discs and are the rears vented? I think my S212 front discs are 340mm dia and the rears 320mm.

Not sure on the sizes. I'll check them later when I get chance and I'll let you know.

The ones the same as on your S212 would make most sense as they're a direct fit, if I can source some.

Same car with our system ,also uses these .wether the c207 differs from the w212 somehow ,I don't know . Maybe the wheels ?
