iPod Connection for C230K (2004 yr, W203)

Hi,

Have been flicking through all the comments re hooking up an iPod via the Aux-In and am still a little confused...

Backgroun is that I drive a 2004 yr W203 C230K Avantgarde Sport with the Audio 20 CD/phone unit. Have found a company called Dension who manufacture D2B fibre cables that enable an iPod to connect to the back of the factory fit head unit.

My questions are:

1. Does the Audio 20 support D2B protocol?
2. If so where will the connectors be located in the vehicle? Will they be on the back of the head unit or behind the glovebox?
3. Has anyone bought a Dension Active Dock iPod cable?

Any advice appreciated.

HI

First your car isn't D2B its MOST but this has nothing to do with the Ipod integration kit available from MB as it is not on the fibre optic loop it is wired into the head unit via the aux socket on the back of the head unit and also interior CAN this gives the ability to use the cluster display although it is limited

Piestore,
Am I right in thinking that some Audio 20's (built mid 04) don't have the Aux input? Certainly there is no evidence on mine. I held the CDC? button in for a few secs and nothing happened. I have the 6cd so can't use that so I have assumed that I'd have to live without an ipod. Anything I've not considered?

I just collected my W203 C220 from the factory and bought the official MB interface cable from the shop there. It cost 172 euros, which works out about £140, bit less than the UK dealer price. So if you can get to the continent it may be worth trying the offical lead.

Unfortunaltely my dealer still quoted £200 to fit it, so I waiting for inspiration to do it myself.

audio 20

hi Jberks

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the audio 20 Ipod integration, for instance the cls audio 20 cannot have Ipod kit but if you have a B,C or CLK class audio 20 it can have ipod. the two sets appear to be the same on the front face, I am doing some further investigation next thursday I will let you know

Hello all, I am new to this forum, but believe I can shed a little light on the subject:???:. I think that there are two types of audio 20:confused: , the awkward one having been fitted mostly to w211's.

I got in touch with denison a couple of weeks back and they are bringing an updated version of the ice link plus out within two months! Quote "a new member of the 'ice>Link Plus' family for Mercedes will be launched
in May-June, Regards... Dension Support" I guess this upgrade will solve our I-pod problems.

Hope this helps,

Dragon
