None, afraid the hum is part 'n parcel of the FM route.

Get a line input connector, much better :)

you will get track info in the instrument display and control via steering wheel buttons (depending on your car)
Cost? £150 for the kit from MB, fitting straight forward (search the forums) but you'll need to have it coded via STAR (~£60 from dealer)

I just bought one of those FM things this week and I've been having trouble too. I don't get a hum, but as soon as I drive anywhere, the car radio (CD based COMAND in my case) always seems to pick up another station nearby within a few minutes, causing interference. I'd be interested to know what frequency other people use, especially in the Midlands.

I don't even HAVE a CDC button which, I'm told, means no aux input, so no iPod kit possible. As I understand it the FM things are the only alternative.

spoke to the local MB dealer.
Made me press and hold the CDC button on the stereo but there was no change to AUX mode hence according to him I cannot get an Ipod connector.
i am gutted.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

As my Audio 20 has the Aux option, I bought the "Cable Harness - A210 440 50 05" from MB for £20 and it took only 15 minutes to fit. My portable DVD player sounds brilliant throught the car speakers. Perhaps changing your Audio 20 for an Audio 20 of e-bay or somewhere which has the Aux input option available may be cheaper?

This is because your car is a pre-facelifted one. Only the MOST based cars can have the factory IPOD kit installed which allows control of the ipod from the steering wheel controls.

You can go for an AUX in in your glove box. Parts cost about £25 all in.

The answer is 98.3

The perfect frequency - hereabouts anyway - seems to be 98.3MHz. No problems after several hours' driving around the West Midlands and Cotswolds. Sounds better than ordinary FM stations - no hum either. And the iTrip can be used in either of our cars.

Turns out that another important component with these FM things is to turn the volume up to max on the iPod. The car radio wanders off tuning a lot less often if you give it the strongest possible signal.

I have an Audio 10 CD with a CDC button. Does this mean I can have an AUX in the glove box to connect to my Ipod?

If you press the CDC button for 2 seconds, does AUX INPUT ACTIVE appear on the screen?

No you cant. Aux in only works with comand on pre facelifted cars.

If your car was a facelift with an audio 20 unit or Comand, then you could have a an ipod interface.

Your options are; upgrade to COMAND or add in a Dension gateway which works at the expense of the CD changer.

I am confused by the different options available.

I spoke to a main dealer and was quoted £250 all in for the IPOD connection in the glove box.

Seems a bit steep just for music, but are there any alternative.

My car is a 2006 register C220 CDI with an Audio 20

2003 W203 C270 CDI Audio options

Hi,

I have a 2003 C270 CDI SE Classic (W203) which I believe is the pre facelift. The stereo is a Becker Audio 10 and I was wondering what options I have with regards to MP3 / Aux in?

Am I right in saying the only option would be the dension icelink?

Or

Upgrade to Command and have the aux in connected?

I have tried an mp3 cd with my audio 10 unit however as expected, it could not play.

Many Thanks,
John

Hi Russ,
You say you have fitted the aux cable yourself in the glove box. I had seen a forum with full instructions on USA site. Some of the forum members from Europe reckoned the wire with plug for the cable in the passenger sill is not there.
Please could you advise how you managed to fit it?
Take it your car is a UK spec.
Mine is a C220 CDi Sports Coupe 2006.

Regards
Allan
