Is there anyway of getting an iPod connector into a 2006 C220CDi Avantagarde without getting the official merc interface thingy at around £250, or still bloomin' expensive 2nd hand.

Don't use my CD or autochangers as I have a ready-made juke-box with 20,000 tracks on it and most cars these days come with a 3.5mm jack-lead but not my Merc'.

I don't want an iTrip or similar that uses FM frequency - had one and thought it was cr4p, hard-wiring is the option I want.

For my Volvo s60 i used an adaptor from usaspec.com i have not tried the site to see if your mb is compatable but it is worth a try.

I used a company called AV soloutions in Manchester to install my mb ipod adaptor. By the time i had drunk a coffee the adaptor was installed good clean install

Thanks - I understand the official bit of kit just plugs straight in the back of the ICE unit.

Question two on this thread; I am presuming the ICE head unit that is standard is capable or does it have to be a certain model unit or any other specification/option to have the capability for iPod on the screen and use the wheel buttons to control?

I have a 2007 C220 w203 with the standard head unit (not Command) the interface plugs straight in the rear and the ipod fits in the glove box. The Ipod once installed is designed not to be touched so all ipod listings are in the dash and you control via the searing wheel. You can select, playlist, album, artist, Genre, etc. If you like music and own an ipod its money well worth spent. http://www.avsolutions.co.uk/ they also supply and install rear sensors.

To me it is not even worth damaging the dash to get the head unit

Just to add you active by holding the cdc button in until the message aux active is displayed on the head unit. No track listing can be displayed on the head unit only in the dash
