ipod in A Class

Does anyone know if when you have the factory fitted ipod cable installed to the Audio 20 CD system in the A Class whether when you turn off ignition the ipod goes to sleep and charges (as it does on the ML) or do you have to turn it off manually as you do with the MP3 jack.

You do not need to turn off the ipod.

I have my ipod in the car and its been there for weeks. Dont need to touch it all except to load new songs onto it.
