Hi All Iam sure this has been asked many times before but can you help me , I have just bought a CLK 200 Elegance Cab (brand new model)for my wife and she want to use her iPod in the car and as the stereo has an aux button i thought that it would be easy to do , I called the dealer who wants to charge me £400 for what i belive is a cable!! when i asked them for the merc part no i was told i couldn't have it because i would just go on eBay and buy one cheaper (which is what i was going to do but £400 is a bit of a rip off isn't it).
so can anybody point me in the right direction , the car has the standard single CD player in ,it has a CD and a AUX button sorry dont know the model no.
I would like it if the steering wheel controls work if possible.

Thank you in advance

They are probably including fitting. But as you say, you could do it. The accessory (http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/con...cars_world/what_s_new_2/iPod_integration.html) is around £175 from Merc. I don't think it's much cheaper on ebay.

(edit): Just checked an accessory brochure. The part number is B67824213 and the Mercedes list price is £172 including VAT. They also do an IPOD holder to go in the glove box. Its part number is B67824207 and costs £11 including VAT.

Here's a link to the part on ebay - actually it costs more! ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MERCEDES-IPOD...oryZ3293QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

Fitting is fairly straight forward. You may need to get your car coded to recognise the Ipod though unless you have telephone pre-wiring in which case you might be lucky as the Ipod uses the phone controls on the steering wheel to select tracks etc.

When I was installing a COMAND recently I noticed in the STAR system that there is a coding option for Ipod!

Fitting instructions are pretty much the same as these below;

Thank you for that i looked at the instructions and it looked quite complicated ,how long do you think it will take !.
also what is the star system! will the dealer charge for the codeing for the iPod .
I drive a chrysler 300c and it is mostly based on a E/S class if i hold 2 buttons on my wheel down i gives me a menu where i can change loads of settings,do you have this on Merc's and is this where you can add the iPod to the CLK

Thank you for your help so far

The STAR system is the delaer diagnostic tool. It allows complete programming of the car and is required in many cases to enable certain features. All the dealers have one and they should only charge you 15 minutes labour to code it up.

I am doing an IPOD install into a MOST based car (B class) on Wednesday. I'll let you know if it needs STAR programming or not. If it does, I'll tell you what you need to ask your friendly dealer to enable ;)

Successfully installed a factory IPOD kit into a B class this morning. fully functional within the cluster and via the steering wheel controls.

Provided you have the telephone pre-wiring, you do not need any additional coding as the car should already be suitably coded. Fitting requires a couple of Mercedes tools, no wire cutting and about 1 hour.

Ipod integration with Audio 20

I put my E-Class Registered Dec 2005 which has the Audio 20 headunit into Mercedes to have the Ipod integration kit fitted. Guess What? it is not compatible. My neighbour put his E270 CDI 2006 and it was the same.
I emailed Mercedes customer service who told me it is not compatible with the Audio 20 headunit in the E-Class, worse still there are no future plans to enable E-Class owners with Audio 20 connect the ipod.
How many E-Class\ Audio 20 cars are out there and will have to fore-go ipod integration.
Dension are bringing out a system in the next few months which will fit BUT !!! no id3 so no song display or info on the headunit or dash.
It seems if you want to listen to your ipod you have to drill holes or use sticky tape to mount screen and controller on your dashboard for some aftermarket add on like Drive+play.

HI Alfie,

for us newbies, and simpletons, do you mind explaining in detail how to do it? If I can do it myself, it will be easy enough to do! The part I can order from merc and then fit.

By the way, there is a much cheaper alternative, now that OffCom has released the UK ban on the devices:
http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=43TY

Though of course you would not be able to operate the IPOD from the stearing wheel. ;)

Be careful with these transmitters. I have till date not found one which works! Problem is that as soon as you fix a frequency and move off, shortly thereafter you will reach some place or other where there is a broadcast on the frequency. These broadcasts are typically more powerful so static is the result.

however, if you hardwire it to the backseat near the rear windscreen, that might do the trick as that's where the aerial is!!!

I'll post up some instructions later.

It involves removing the COMAND/Audio 20 unit, most of the centre dash and the glove box!

I fitted one to a 2005 W203 on Sunday. Its quite straight forward if you have the right tools;)

I have a itrip which is not great in the car and a kensington one which is excellent. I have not had any interference problems with it and leave it one station. I only notice a commercial station on the channel when I switch it off on my travels.
