Hi,

Picked up my Brand Spanking New C Class this weekend, like the Stereo (Audio 20) but am missing my old stereo in the ML already as had Mp3 on CD so loads of tracks on 1 cd. I havent got the Aux Jack in the glove box but really do fancy the Ipod Generation kit which i knew nothing about!!

Done the search on MBOA and read a lot about the new Ipod Integration kit which works with the MF steering wheel, says that it will be launched in Sept 2005!!

Is this already out?
Has anyone had it installed yet?
Is it the Tits?

Any advice would be much appreciated as it is a bit of a pain keep changing the CD in the Car, (I didnt even have a cd changer installed as i knew i wanted to go down the MP3 route)

Many thanks

Hi. Don't understand why you don't have chinch aux in socket in glovebox - ask your dealer. Is is a RHD estate (german built) or saloon (South africa)?

My C arrives on Wednesday with ipod integration kit.... but my (discounted) iPOD arrives a week Wednesday.

Saloon (Not a big Baby like yours) Just a little 200cdi with Sports pack on it. I have leased mine, got an amazing deal.

And there is NO Aux Socket in the glove box.

Gonna ring my local MB Stealer tomorrow first thing to find out what is involved with this Ipod Integration kit as I have been using an Ipod for Years and just seems so much better than have a bucket full of CD's in ya car.

Well pleased with the Motor though, Sports Pack makes a hell of a difference to the Motor.

Got a nice little ML up for sale in a few days once i get my Number plate off and can be bothered to go and get it cleaned ready for selling!!

Still cant find this Auxpoint, although i have pressed the CDC button on the Audio 20 and it comes up with Aux Active, so it must be there somewhere.

Spoke to the MB Dealer today, they are expecting the Ipod Integration kits in but are on back order.

not so - you can have that showing without the aux in socket present (I tried at the dealership)

My kit arrived within two weeks @ dealers after being on back order.

can you let me know how you got on, the AUX is not standard ship with the UK models (RHD) but its £15.99 for the cable that simply fits into the Y loom behind the dash.

email from mbproduct department, UK

All C-Class should have an auxiliary point located in the glove box. This
is for a customer to plug in external devices e.g. I-POD - and for them to
play through the system. However, please note that he will not be able to
operate the item through the multi-function steering wheel.

Charlie,
Today's the day! (unless I've got it wrong).
We await the piccies!

No - you're right! It's coming this morning... which is why I am trying to get this bloomin' report out of the way since last night and early this am.

Brought my digi camera with me but you'll have to wait for those pix whilst i fix a techie problem on home pc. Camera-phone pix will have to do in the interim.

Glad you got quoted a price, My Parts department at my Local MB Dealer, didnt even know what i was talking about. He put me through to someone in Sales who said they were still on back order.

So god knows what the parts man was talking about, think i might just go to my local Ice people and see what they say about doing it for me, they done all my gear in the ML as previously mentioned and couldnt fault them.

With regards to the Aux Point in the glove box, they told me where that should be, if you look in the glove box as you are looking at it there is a circle on the right hand side, thats where it should go although some new c-class's still dont have it in. Same again the parts man didnt know anything about buying the lead in this country.

Good luck with ya new car today. Make the most of it being shiny, i have had the same colour and brand spanking new since friday and its filthy!!

The Ipod Integration Kit.

Parts man has now come back to me after doing his homework, (I Think to find out what an Ipod was) he says the following.

Yes Mercedes do it. Part no. B67824213.

£147 + Vat + Fitting.

Dont get too excited yet. He has gone on to his Computer to order one for me and Stock for Mercedes UK is a Big Fat Zero and cant find out any info for when its due to come in.

Says that it is possible to specify it on Brand New Cars Ordered. But Stock is still zero for Retrofit.

Yikes!!

Still Chasing up just installing an Auxillary Jack as my motor didnt have one but this is a last option as it is just a jack point sounds come through the stereo but you have to use the controls on the ipod, MFSW will have no use.

You can't order it as a factory option if that's what he means.

No separate aux in socket on mine

Ipod cradle stuck in the glovebox in the wrong place (giggle) - wire won't reach.

Ipod arrives next week (20Gb colour £180)

Too late to keep it clean - I've just done 100 miles to get to my meeting.

Well, fortunate man here in that sense. 6 month old E270. When ordered, was ****ed off that iPOD integration was available on one model of BMW but not on MB. Got aux, which works ok, but obviously only passes on the sound, cant see the tract etc on the command screen. Got one DVD player though, which plays MP3 dvd, six cd changer, which also plays MP3 CDs, so in total, around 13Gb of music can be there. But, not the same as MP3 Player, oh well. Oh and one thing, changing between CDs quite slow! Takes for ever to read them.

Just moved my ipod cradle - no problem even though MB said it had to go there and it couldn't be moved. Will velcro properly.

I am well and truley F'd off...

I am getting no end of rubbish from Merc dealer about my 3 week old C class and this ipod kit

First it was 3 hours labour to take the dash off (unrelated issue)
Second it was 3 hours labour to fit the Chinch AUX socket (first option)
Third it was 3 hours to fit the iPOD intergration kit (favored option)

So the ****** question...
How long does it take to take the dash of and fit a cable? seriously?

Is it something i could just do myself? how hard can it be?
