Ipod integration with Comand

I am really sorry if this quesiton has been asked a thousand times, I have been searching for ages and think I am slowly going mad!

I have a 2003 E class saloon 320cdi. It has the comand system with tv, dvd, 6cd changer etc. It has an aux in in the glove box which I use to listen to my ipod through the car speakers, but I would like to integrate the ipod so that I can control it through the comand/steering wheel.

My questions are:
1) does the official ipod integration kit work with a 2003 model, or is it just the newer ones?
2) Is there any other option?

1). Yes. but it cost circa £400 from your local dealer to have it retro fitted.
2). Yes Dension but you'll lose the Cd changer.
