Not found this on any search and guessing my car is a bit 'old school' as a 2002 model but is there anyway of connecting an iPod into the car audio system.

Not bothered about it having to operate via wheel buttons or anything.

Simplest option is getting an MP3 jack plug in the system somewhere as is becoming so common on new cars nowadays but is even this possible?

Car has a 6 cd stacker in the boot if that provides any other 'wire in' options anybody can think of?

If yours is a W209 then yes it is possible. I don't know how as mine has already been done. The 'Aux' function on the Comand system allows for an iPod connection. Mine has a jack in the glove compartment to connect an iPod into

Mine is a W208 variant and has an Audio 30 ICE unit fitted with the CD stacker in the boot

Bet bet would be a griffen iTrip - about £15 quid from Ebay or £30 from argos...

I tried a couple of the cheap stuff from tesco's but there rubbish - The iTirp is a good bit of kit, and transmits wirelessly to your head unit.

Had iTrip before and frankly found it a pile of crap. Much prefer hard-wire route if there is one

I have used the Denison Gatewway 500 device on my W209. It has a D2B bus and integrates with the steering wheel controls. I have an Audio 10 with no CD. The web site I bought mine from was /www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/. Itrip is cheaper but I had problems with FM reception.
