Iridium vs Platinum Sparking Plugs

2011 R230 SL350, 2016 Discovery 4 Landmark, 1973 MG B GT V8, 1959 MGA roadster.
In my other cars I have always used Platinum sparking plugs.

It has been suggested that in more modern cars Iridium is preferable.

Any particular views or recommendations. both generally & in particular for my R230 SL:350?

My previous W211 E55 had a plug change using NGK Iridium plugs.
Very pleased and an immediately smoother engine.

No idea what the main dealer put in my E63 serviced last Sept with a plug change.
