The only stuff my Irish pals taught me are either offensive or vulgar! But it was quite useful when on holiday in France a couple of years ago - we went to St Michaels Mount. There was a school of young Irish teens saying "rude" things to passers-by, thinking they had impunity so when they bad- mouthed me I was able to reply: "póg mo thóin!"
- Yup, a little knowledge...

When it all boil's down...Pog mo Thoin goes a long way, anywhere in the world !!! And if you get a silence followed by a surprised look, you can add " agus tusa freshin, mo chara " ( the last part means " And the same to your self, my friend " ) but its definitely optional... LOL

Almost the same in Scots Gaelic...

Gaelic is Gaelic John, same language, just regional differences. Just listen to Ulster English, and County Kerry English....you will need a translator. But when they write it, it's the same. ( well very nearly the same.... )
