Is Command a 'double DIN' standard size?

My W163 has a wotsit10 standard Merc offering, which has a cassette slot (I think I might still have a cassette somewhere...) and a sort of shallow cubby slot beneath it. Am I right in thinking that this cubby slot and the cassette deck together would be missing if I'd had a car with the Command setup installed in it? And if so, is that unit a standard Double DIN-E slot? I ask because I've seen quite a number of double DIN units from decent brand manufacturers (Sony, JVC, et al) at much more reasonable prices with all sorts of goodies built in, like TV, MP4/video playback, even reversing cameras!

I asked the same question a while back, as far as I can find out it is double din, I was thinking of doing exactly the same as you to lose "that" space.

It is indeed a double din slot on the W163 ML, W208 CLK, W210 E . Looks best with a COMAND in it though ;)

Definately, if mine was used as my daily transport I would have command with out hesitation but as I only use mine a couple of times a week it is a lot of expense for little use. I have seen the "cheap" command units on ebay from Lithuania but I would sooner trust a politician.
