Hi folks

Since I managed to sort out a 96 C200 Auto Sport for myself (pics up shortly), I'm under pressure to get a slightly newer car on the driveway for the 'er indoors.

We've seen a local indie with 2005 C200 CDI Avantgarde SE Auto, black with a light interior with leather trim. It's got 19k on the clock and doesn't seem to have had a service yet. Car is ex-lease.

Indie is looking for £18k with a reasonable trade-in of the other "new" car with a service and new tyres.

- Is this a reasonable price (seems ok by general autotrader trade prices)?
- Is the service interval so long that the first service hasn't been done, should it be done at the Stealer or can an Indie (non-specialist) do it. Indie is happy to do all servicing and has a deal with Castrol and assures that correct / original parts will be used.
- What is the avantgarde SE spec? Has alum finish, but what else is different?
- Is the spare a space-saver (she does big mileage so feel more secure with full size wheel, had one provided FOC from other main dealers)?
- Is colour / spec a good choice?
-What should we be looking for when buying this car, is there any specific faults that have been happening?
- How better is the C220 cdi? Driving will be main A roads @ 150 miles daily, so a far bit of overtaking required.

Finally, key question, is this a good time to buy a used c class just before the new model is coming out?

thanks for your comments in advance,
Saz
