Have a 2001 E320cdi T210.

Having general check for leaks an stuff (aok) over the weekend as part of the preventative maintenance and thought I'd twist the 'dial' on the airfilter to see it was working properly. - this is the one that twists round and increases a white to red when the filter is blocked (hopefully I've crudely explained the piece in question).

My query is that I cannot twist the dial by hand, it moves a fraction and then just locks solid. Clearly this means a reduction in the performance of the air filter will not be visible from this dial.

Does this mean the filter is blocked (if so would expect it to be jammed on red, not white) or is it something else ??

Or should I not be able to twist by hand and I am worrying about something that is not an issue - it's been known :-(

Not sure about yours, but the ones on the sprinter go red when there blocked. The knob is there to reset it to white. Once reset to white, the knob won't move. So I would guess this is normal and there's nothing to worry about.

Just take out the filter and see if its blocked.
