Hi all, new to this! I just purchased my second w205 250d coupe (2017) and the drive is a little off and millage is poor... is it possible to have No engine warning light, but multiple error codes? is there a known reason that could happen as ive seen someone else ask, but hasn't gotten a response yet

I used Carly scanner which showed the following
P229F85 The NOx sensor 2 (cylinder bank 1) has a malfunction.

U010000 Communication with the control unit 'combustion engine' has a malfunction.

U11A300 Communication with control unit 'Multifunction camera' has a malfunction.

U016887 Communication with the electronic ignition lock has a malfunction.

B1F4500 The starter battery has excessive resistance.

B21059A The capacity of the starter battery is too low. The operating conditions for the component or the system are not satisfied.

U010000-Communication with the control unit 'combustion engine' has a malfunction.

U041600-Implausible data were received from control unit 'Traction system'.
U010000 : Communication with the control unit 'combustion engine' has a malfunction. / -Communication with the control unit 'combustion engine' has a malfunction. / C10000 Communication with the control unit 'combustion engine' has a malfunction.

If anyone can advise I just would like to get a better understanding when I deal with the company and warranty or I may just give the car back... thanks

Yes, old codes or pending codes will not trigger the light. Its important to determine whether they are current or just old codes.

In addition, not all codes generate a "check engine" light.

Hey thanks for confirming. I went out for a drive and cleared the codes and then drove again and only one has come back so far. can you explain a little more on what is a pending code?

As I understand it a pending code is one where a parameter has gone out of spec previously but not not come back and has not been through enough restarts to become stored.
Some codes will auto clear if the they return to normal status and the engine goes through several start cycles - defined as start and drive a number of miles.

also worth noting below - these are all common drivers of random fault codes on cars and really common on mercedes

low volts from an aged, weak battery,
insufficient use so volts drop and during cranking it triggers the low volt fun modern cars are afflicted with
corrosion on canbus terminals, from hidden puddles and moisture under the floor carpets where sunroof and screen drain deliberately block up
intermittent connections from bad fitment of aftermarket junk / broken pin bush housings on multiplugs, poor build where its such a tangled mess nothing fitted well when they made it

if you buy a turbocharged car and drive in a lazy way and keep getting stuck in slow flow traffic the mileage can be utterly appalling

particularity if you:

play drum bass on the throttle to make up a 10 meter gap, then have to stand on the brakes (a huge penchant for many drivers)
you have a manual gearbox and use the boost to make up for not bothering to change gear (again common with most young/bad drivers)
you live in town and it keeps trying to regen its DPF but you never achive it as the traffic flow is too slow and too intermittent to get a 20 mile 70 mph run completed - so its just pumping in extra tractor fuel and making the DPF block up more and more
