Hi,
By removing the CD Player fibre optic connection you break the MOST loop to remove it you will need to put in a fibre optic cable in to complete the fibre optic loop.

No, the loop plugs into the CD Changer fibre optic connector.

overly complicated piece of crap , why oh why do they fit these set ups in cars ? when they fail its nigh on impossible to sort them out , hope you get it up and running again pal

The fibre cables are terminated into a common connector, this connector can then have a male or female body clipped to it, to make it compatible for youre connection.
If you unplug your CD Changer you can see what I mean about the removeable connector bodies.
If you google Mercedes Fibre Optic, mercedes fibre optic MOST connectors you will understand what i am trying to explain.
