hello to all
first time here,
i am thinking of buying a scanner not pc type,
there are so many out there can you recomend one for faults resets etc.
is my car obd2 only had it a couple of weeks and ecu gone down, no spark on 2&3 changed coil checked wires, i had a test done it came up with codes 042 043 but i now believe i did not need the coil so i am hopping to save money buy the purchase.
many thanks

It is not OBD2.

According to my code list for the PMS system the following show:

042 injectors

043 injectors

So check the injector plugs are fitted on correctly

The ignition codes for coil circuit to cylinders 2&3 are:

065
066
067

Scanners are a total waste of money. Some scanners don't even display the codes even it there.

Buy a proper MB STAR 2008, set you back £500 plus a 44-pin IDE harddisk interface laptop(T20-23, 30, some even supply whatever you wanted by telling them the laptop you wish to use it with) but worth it.;)

that will give you a good idea if the repair is an option but i would try more yards & ask for a pms unit dont say ecu as they will up the price.if you find a older syle yard & remove the part your self you might get lucky;)

had a phone call about ecu
the man cannot fix it himself so has sent it away to somewhere he always uses, he will then come back to me with a repair price i would think monday.ecu is at fault.
cheers paul

scanner

thanks for your info on this,
i have been looking at a snap on item as i need it to cover other models,
it is an mt2500 if anyone has any knowledge on these before i purchase.
does the star only cover mercedes?
one more question,
i now have two new coils
new plugs
i am going to replace the leads, mine are straight leads but i am not sure wether these are correct, as they are also shown with a right angle lead,
so not sure which is correct straight or angle, (coils under manifold).
cheers paul
