I'm wanting to restore my soft top colour back to a deep black it has faded and is fairly grey looking not sure why car has lived in a garage most of its life.

Anyway there is a professional mobile valeting company local to me who offers a re colour service using renovo products. I'm cautious since I seen a few mixed results on forums albiet from DIYers rather than pros.

Anyone got any tips used this stuff themselves or can recommend a good re colour service?

Worked a treat on my CLK 430 soft top. Read lots of good reviews online before I finally bit the bullet.

I used it on my Porsche, and it worked very well.
I watched a lot of videos and reviews before I took the plunge - but it worked perfectly.

Did my 968 cab shortly after buying it, used all 3 Renovo products - shampoo cleaner, re-colour and proofer, still looks fairly good 6+ years later. Beware the colour stuff, it's thinner than water and gets everywhere, easy to remove from paintwork when wet, PITA once it dries!

Used it in my Clk with excellent results , and my neighbours MX5 . I just use an empty plastic butter tub and a 3 inch cheap brush . Leave a damp microfibre nearby for any drips , or have someone hovering nearby for clean up purposes .
I used to tape the glass up and tape some nearby edges , but now I just work carefully cleaning up as I go .
Don't try it in hot direct sun , it may dry too quick .
You may need 2 coats first time round to get the colour good enough

OP is not thinking DIY, talks of a local mobile valeting co to do the job! Wonder about that, as first you have to carefully wash the hood then let it dry before applying the colourant, then let that dry before applying the proofer.

One lesson learnt the hard way - the instructions say "do not lower the hood for 24 hours after applying the colourant". Guess who did, and got lighter coloured crease marks in his newly coloured roof!!:oops::oops:

Used it on two of our cars too. Both looked good and a fairly easy job. Just read the instructions or watch a YouTube or two before.

Do you have a company recommendation? I'm scared to try myself to be honest as I've seen some DIYers get disastrous results

I spoke with the guy about his process and it includes a deep wash and proofing I believe he does it over 2 days but I need to confirm this.

Not folding the hood is fine I'll leave the car and n the garage for a few days I'm just concerned about the job going wrong and leaving the roof looking bad

I've tried a "cheaper" Swissvax wax (it was still about £70 for a 50ml tub) and it's no better than AG HD that I got off Ebay for £25.
