Yes but your R231 should not be using much if any oil between services a 1l version should be sufficient unless you are doing your own service (in which case I doubt you would have asked)....
Never had to put any oil in mine in 7 years between services at 10k miles a year....

I'd use the 5w/40 Mercedes oil personally. Supplied by MB-Newcastle.
It's the oil Mercedes put in my W212 E63.
