So having owned my ageing R230 SL350 for 2 1/2 years now I'm thinking it's about time I bought myself a diagnostic tool. So is this the correct one for my year and model please, if not could somebody please kindly post a link to the correct one, thank you.

Yes that's correct.
Also consider the CR-Pro for multiple brand capabilities or the Autel AP200 (phone based) for similar functionality at a lower price.

I’ve had the icarsoft MB2 (Predecessor) for a couple of years , well worth the money , easy to use and vital piece of kit for MB ownership if you do any of your own work
