Your Mercedes
ML270CDI/2001/WL163 , Vito 115/2007/W639, Viano 3.0/2013/W639, C200K/2003/W203, 230.6/1976/W114
I have a 2007 Vito W639 with a 646 engine. Apparently somewhere in its history the ECU was changed, and now a friend's Xentry says it has a 636 ECU. First, the 636 was pre 1990 and surely did not have an ECU. The Vin Nr is not on my ECU and when we manually type it in the ECU refuses a lot of functions. We tried correcting the Vin but it says not possible. Can also not add the cruise control since it "was not available on 636, but only available on 646".
I have iCarsoft V3 for MB, and it does a good job on fault codes and resetting errors, but you still have to interpret errors and seems to be limited. I need to use it on my 2013 Viano 3.0 as well as my W163 2002 cars.
My friend's Xentry package looked awesome (including parts lookup and details back to even my W114) and I am considering investing in the MB Star SDConnect C4 for Mercedes +V2023/03 software on SSD. Will buy a dedicated laptop, but I need to verify that it will do what I need. Requirements are to adjust the Vin settings on my Vito and switch on the Cruise Control (Essentially resetting the ECU as far as possible to original), diagnosing the Viano that is in limp mode (iCarsoft shows no errors) and general health checks on all my Benz's. Duplicating key fobs would be a big advantage but I believe re-coding new is not possibly with this software.
I would love to hear opinions and possible issues or recommendations.
