Is W210 Avantgarde lower than Elegance?

I have a 1998 S reg W210 E-class Elegance.I had it lowered by 35mm,but it is eating my tyres like there is no tomorrow,so i was thinking of fitting a set of Avantgarde springs,instead of putting the Elegance ones back on.
I can remember reading somewhere that this will lower the car by 17mm,compared to the standard Elegance springs,but i am also being told that there is no difference in height between the two?????
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Also,if anyone has a set of Avantgarde springs for sale,please let me know.

The Avantgarde is definitely lower - I believe 20mm. Its worth checking with some of the technical geniuses on here. If you've lowered the elegance by that much it may be that its changed the steering geometry - may need to look at tracking, toe in etc?

You dont say what engine you have either, or wheel size. The Avantgarde is lowered but sometimes people, me included, stay with the Elegance suspension for comfort. I would also suggest check the front struts, the W210 has a serious corrosion problem and you may have problems in the struts or cross member. However I must admit in 115k have nto had any tyre wear issues, worth checking all of the steering geometry too.
