I have been having issues with the battery not getting a full charge. I put it down to only doing shortish journeys of around 20 miles, with the car always in Eco mode.

However I recently did a journey of 180 miles in Eco mode, but when I checked the battery state in the Mercedes Me app, it still said partially charged. So as an experiment, I drove the return journey in Comfort mode, when I got home the app said the battery was fully charged and it has stayed charged for a few days, without using the car.

Question is, does using Eco mode not provide enough charging activity to fully charge the battery? If that is expected behaviour then it’s not very good, surely it should only allow Eco mode when the battery is fully charged.

20 miles is a good distance to charge a battery. Mainly run mine in eco and no issues. What voltage does the system say your battery is at with engine off (when it says fully charged)?

How old is the battery?
Even if a battery is good enough to start the car easily and provide no obvious running issues, it may just be the threshold needed for ECO to work.

My view is do not use ECO. There is nothing ECO about it other than help accelerate wear and tear and dodge emissions.

The battery is 4 years old, the garage checked it and confirmed it was good still.

May be worth putting the battery on a charger to get it to a good state and go from there.

but any eco ss is better left not working imho.
