Hi,

I recently had to replace the battery on my W210 E240 (2002 2.6 Petrol Model) and since all 4 of the electric windows are playing up. They go down OK but when trying to wind them up they only move about 1/2 inch each time you press the windon buttons.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so I would be grateful for your advice on how to rectify this, I think it must be related to the battery change.

Thanks
John Paul

The windows need resetting. As will the sunroof if you have one.

Open them all the way then close all the way by holding the button and keep holding for 5sec after they are fully closed.

Hi,

Tried that, it didn't work for me, not sure why.

I wound the windows down all the way then wound them up one at a time (1/2 inch at a time, beacuse of the issue). I held down each button for 5 seconds as mentioned once fully up.

Is there a sequence required to this? Has anyone else got any ideals as to what it may be?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Did you press the button past the resistance point? i.e. one touch opening/closing

When resynchronising one only pushes to that resistance point. i.e. you need to hold the button for the window to move.

From the handbook

"Synchronizing power windows
If the power supply was interrupted (battery
disconnected or low), the windows cannot be opened or
closed by the Express feature.
To resynchronize the express feature, press j side
of power window switch to resistance point until the
window is completely closed and hold for additional 2
seconds. Repeat procedure for each window.
The automatic full opening and closing procedure of the
windows should now be restored."

Hi,
It will be as Whitenemesis says they just need resetting.
Take the window down on the switch but do not fully push the switch down, only to the first click, when they are fully open push and hold the switch fully down for approx. 5 seconds, then repeat but taking the window up, again do ensure that you take the window up only on the first click of the switch, then again when the window is fully up press the switch to its fully down position and hold for approx. 5 seconds.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Had to reset the windows - now they work perfectly after following the advice given below.

Thanks once again. :p
