Our cars have been left on the drive unlocked over night a few times. There shouldn't be an excuse with the Merc really, the mirrors are set to fold when locked, so it should be obvious if left unlocked.

I also go by the mirrors - I left mine unlocked for days before I noticed the little keyless lock button on the drivers-door had packed up.

Unfortunately not all Mercs have this auto Self Closing function of Mirrors, with my W210 e320cdi 2002 Avantgarde I have to depress the console switch to return mirrors.

One of my best times whilst living in Nottinghmam was catching someone trying to break into the house and car :lol:

He was lucky that I hadn't gone to class .....ahem ... at that time I taught Shotokan Karate but the cat wasn't feel too good. The look on his face when I opened the bathroom door and he was just falling through the window :lol:

Needless to say he went promptly to Queens Medical Centre A&E.

I received a visit from the police the next day who suggested I had injured a poor defenceless burglar. A quick chat and they were on their way with a wry smile on their face.

Karma really is the ultimate bitch sometimes :lol:

Reminds me of the time when I moved back to mum and dads for a month whilst I was doing some major work on my house. My dad has a big shed come workshop and they had obviously watched the place previously because this was at 6am knowing full well my parents didnt surface until 7-8am. I was downstairs having a shave when I heard noises from outside. Someone was in the shed for sure. I snuck out the front door and went down the side of the house the garden is divided and half the shed is disguised by a big bush. I stepped into the shed and closed the door behind me and caught the thiefing git with one of my dads drills in my hand.

I dont know karate but Dad taught me to make a fist and how to punch when I was a kid and to this point I never had to practise the art but I did a few times that day.

Anyway the commotion was heard and my dad came running out and called the police. When they arrived they did ask how he ended up with a split lip and a black eye. Its amazing what you can trip up and land on when you are in a rush to escape!!
