Hi,
Can anyone help?
I have an SLK 32 AMG (2001) and the roof is refusing to open until I give it a thump at the top right corner of the roof panel.
The windows go down and the boot raises, so the problem is particular to the top right front release mechanism.
Thanks for your help.

This is almost to hard to answer, it could be so many different things from a offset top release to a relay sticking, and there are loads of those.

Though it is possible to be the top front release cylinder do try some lighter taps on other parts of the roof to be sure it is at the front top

These used to suffer from microswitches sticking. With the roof open about 4-6inches, look inside the catch above the drivers head (catch on roof itself). see if you can see a microswich with a rubbery see-through "hat" on. It is difficult to see but the "hat" sticks the switch down in the wrong position. You can pick it out again with a toothpick or similar & see if the roof works OK.
