Please forgive me if I am teaching my grandmother.....
I have just studied the JDPower survey of two year old cars which reflect not only the car but dealer service. It must make extremely worrying reading for DC!
In the manufacturers league table MB come a poor 21st, with the industry average between 17 and 18. BMW were 6, Jag 11, Daihatsu 12, Lexus 1, and Vauxhall one place in front of MB. The boys at Milton Keynes can gain pleasure in knowing they beat Kia, Rover Alfa and Fiat!

Look at the Model League Table: (out of a total number of 124 places in the table)

MB M Class tied with the surprising Fiat Stilo in position 120! The highest placed DC car was the and alledged potentially insolvent Smart at 20 then the C at 60, the A at 67, the SLK at 70, PT Crusier at 79, CLK at 90, E at 95, Voyager at 97,

What about the competition?
Lexus IS200 at 2, BMW5 at 6, BOXSTER AT 10!!!!, BMW3 at 14, Audi all about 30, X type Jag at 46, and so on.

At least DC can take pleasure that they beat the majestic line up of The MG F and the Kia Sportage by 0.5%.

Sorry DC I am really very sad and would love them to go up like Skoda did. They certainly need to impose a new philosphy on their dealers and become much more customer focused. The dealers are so stuffy and I feel as they are doing me the favour of taking wads of my money.

Even scarier for Merc is that the cars are getting stuck at the bottom of the pile. Once a product gets a bad rep it's doomed to keep it. The M-Class never moved from the very bottom in spite of major facelifts and a quality drive at the Alabama production site.

Don't blame the production guys, it's the car designers and their bosses. As long as they design rubbish, we'll get rubbish.

Remember that a E-Class costs about the same to manufacture as a Mondeo.
Where's the extra money we pay going? It should be paying for better quality designs, when it's likely funding F1 racing and glossy TV adverts.

I sincerely hope they start to get the design work right, but this will take a decade. By then we may have lost interest..!
