What an excellent site!

Just got a Vito 112Cdi van and would like to jack up the front and then seperately the rear using a 3 ton trolley jack. Where abouts are the jacking points for the front and rear and where do you place the axle stands?

I bought a Peter Russek manual for the later vito to help, but it makes no mention of jacking points and just refers you back to the owner's manual..which only tells you how to jack up using the supplied windup jack not for a trolley jack.

I'm used to jacking up cars where you fit the jack under the sump to get the front wheels off the ground and then seperately for the jacking up the rear a plank to spread the load under the spare wheel. Finally, the pair of stands would go under the sills where you'd put the windup jack. Is it the same for the vito??

Please don't jack up anything by jacking on the sump. I shudder at the thought. I think the vito has a one piece solid back axle so jacking on that is best either at each side or if you must, under the diff in the middle.

I jack the front of my sprinter up under the wishbones/control arms as these are substantial steel pressings and can take the pressure but it does mean jacking one side at a time.

Agreed, the strain on the engine mounts would be bad enough however the possibility of pushing in the sump is even worse.

the Vito is front wheel drive, the front has a bar across the front, just in front of the sump, and can be jacked up there, and axle stands placed under the front wishbones, the rear can be jacked up under the rear wishbones, and the axle stands placed below the springs, hope this helps
