Just exploring our recently purchased 2003 A209 CLK 240 and looking at jacking points for my low profile trolley jack.

I'm aware there is a front central jacking point but when I crawled under and saw this rectangle protruding from the recess it looked plastic and quite narrow. Is this the correct one to use a trolley jack on please..

Also when crawling under the rear and looking down to the front of the car, I expected to see a rear diff to act as a rear central jacking point, but didn't see it, what am I missing please?

Finally the side jacking points, I guess these are shaped for the standard jack that is supplied with the car, but are there any shaped pads for using a trolley jack on these please or do I just jack straight onto it?

Looks like at the front there has been an insert left in the recess so that a normal jack can be used , if you look at the rear points there appears to be a plug in the center that can be removed to accept said insert so it may just pop out so that a pad with a raised central section that is required at the rear can be used.

You can use a trolley jack on the front point. However, a rubber puck in between the jack and that point will save damage.

Also, its very easy for the car to fall off this jacking point if the jack wheels are obstructed from rolling.

Something like this will save damage:

no need for an apology ;)

I use a block as above, but not too fussed if a garage doesn't. I just ban them from using a rattle gun .... I have a collection of the stainless caps from the 'flower' headed bolts! :(
They are usually safe it you use the correct socket for them. Undoing in any case, no point in doing them up with one.

Thanks, not sure of my trolley jack will reach that far under, whilst it is a low profile jack it might not be low enough. I'll take another look.

Are you referring to the front jack point at the side fo the car in photo 2, or the central jack point in photo 1 please?

I was referring to the one in pic 2 , however it seems that it is the norm as per AlexanderFoti`s post. I thought the inner part of the front jacking points could be removed to make them the same as the rear points.

My CLS had four recessed jacking points that requiring the type of pad linked in other posts.
