Jammed ignition lock

Can anyone help with what seems to be a jamed ignition lock?

Everything was fine first thing, but now when I insert the key it only turns 1 notch before hitting the starting position.

Only the srs light on the dash comes on and I am wondering if its somehow locked out?

E250 Diesel automatic W124 1995

MB switches are a common problem, you have to buy a new switch barrel, not the key piece if you want any help in fitting, please ask

Was the key difficult to remove too??

Just double check that Park is correctly engaged on your auto gearbox as this can restrict removal/insertion of the key for safety reasons. It is a bit of a long shot though, as I wouldn't have imagined that you'd have got the key out if it wasn't in Park. Worth a try.

My E250 (1998) suffers very occasionally, with the lock jamming. I think it is the steering lock, because if I waggle the steering wheel slightly it frees up and starts the car

Part of the lock has jamed which MB say is a known problem. According to MB service if the lock barrel wont come off, and it wont, its a sure sign that its the mechanism not the lock barrel, so it looks like I will need a complete assembly.
