The heater blower motor stopped working on my '97 c250 td sport a few days ago. My local auto electrician reckoned even finding the motor behind the dashboard would be a problem and advised me to take it to a mercedes garage. As I only work for a bakery and don't own it I decided to take a look at it myself. As it happened the motor started with a push and will probably be ok with a clean up but when I removed the plastic cover below it I found that there was water in it. My first thought was the matrix [it has got one hasn't it?] but I seem to recall something about water ingress from outside on the forum somewhere on other models. Can anyone advise me regarding the C250? I would like to be as genned up as possible before I do the job.
Any help given will be much appreciated.

Sounds like brushes. MB don't supply them but you can buy generic ones and shape to fit. Many people have done this with good results.
As regards water ingress, I believe there are drains outside that can clog up, but I've not stripped down a c so I'll leave that to someone that has.

heater intake drain

Hi,
There is a drain like jberks says and it does have a tendency to clog up. Mine was found to be blocked when i had a new screen fitted as the wiper mechanism and plastic trim had to be removed from the bottom of the screen the windscreen fitter seemed to be aware that it could block and un blocked by poking a piece of wire down into the pool of water that had collected.
The plastic trim was reasonably easy to remove even the wiper parts took the windscreen fitter about ten minutes to do it just phillips screws and plastic clips also grease your wiper mechanism at same time while its off the car. when the covers are off look approx. below wiper and if blocked should see a small pool of water quite deep down, if allowed to fill could overflow into heater ducting leaking into car.
Hope this has helped,
I,ve had a problem with my blower motor not sure what it was but it righted itself and been ok ever since (2 years ago now).

p.s. i was browsing through another thread regarding which engine oil was best. i.e. synthetic, semi synth. etc. if anyone is in doubt they should go to this link http://www.carbibles.com/ you'll find everything you want to know on the subject especially regarding changing from one grade to another.
