Judder when going from neutral to first gear

Help!

I've got two issues that are beginning to annoy.

First - when everything is "cold" ie first thing, when changing into 1st gear from neutral there is a nasty judder when is'nt there after 10 mins decent speed driving, it takes longer if in town. Is this the clutch?

Second - unless I change gears very smooth, I get a slight "thunk"
in the transmission, it does'nt matter which gear I'm in or changing to.
I take it I have wear in the system but which part is most likely?

Hi Mike

The second problem is the same for me - Vacuum tube disconnected!

I'm going to have a go tomorrow so I'll let you know.
